Johnson and Sekin gained an opportunity to interview interim Sheriff Marian Brown as she became Dallas County’s first black Sheriff, as well as the county’s first black female Sheriff. In addition, J&S recognized the heroism of Deputy Katrina Caldwell as she helped subdue a criminal who opened fire on the Dallas Police Department back in 2015.
Sheriff Brown, who grew up in Dallas, Texas, has served in law enforcement for the past 22 years. Prior to her post as interim Sheriff, she held several years as Assistant Deputy Chief under her predecessor Lupe Valdez, as well as served as a Sergeant for the Duncanville Police Department, located in Duncanville, Texas. Johnson and Sekin are very proud of both Sheriff Brown’s accomplishments and the public service given to Dallas communities by Deputy Caldwell. We recognize them on their career achievements and wish them all the success with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.
